Re_Connection Winter Workshop

A ritual lab for emancipatory practices in democracy

And rites are in time what the home is in space.

– Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (our translation)

How can we remain able to act in times of polycrisis? The Re_Connection approach understands rituals as a collective practice for strengthening democratic structures. Resilience here does not mean retreat or adaptation, but the basis for remaining creative, solidary and effective even under difficult conditions.

We would like to invite people to this workshop who look from very different perspectives at the significance of ritual, body and emotions in processes of social negotiation. As the Re_Connection team we want to share, reflect on and widen our experiences, and we look forward to exchange with others working on related questions. To that end we are gathering impulses from research and practice and talking about them together — explicitly in a workshop mode that makes room for questions and discourse.

Open Call

We look forward to your contribution.

Submission deadline 10 October 2026. All the details here:

These are the fields we want to dive into together:

  • What role do spirituality and collective ritual spaces play for emancipatory movements and communities?
  • Bodies are not merely a shell; they help determine who sees, from where one is seen, and which perspectives count as objective in the first place. Body and emotions decisively shape what we actually do. How can we bring body and emotions back into our thinking as political and social cultural techniques?
  • Which insights from the humanities, neuroscience and aesthetics can be combined into a contemporary model of ritual — and how can historical as well as non-Western ritual traditions be taken into account?

We explicitly invite people offering impulses as well as people from practice to present their approaches. In a relaxed way we want to create spaces, listen to one another, and bring insights together and deepen them in collective exchange.

Further information about the keynote speakers will follow soon.
