Who we are
Perspectives
Re_Connection emerges from the interplay of three professional perspectives. They are not separate areas of responsibility but flow together into the choice of topics, the dramaturgy and the evaluation.
This perspective connects socio-political questions with methods from civic education. It brings philosophical and social-scientific impulses, power-critical reflection and experience from collective processes of change into the work on topics.
This perspective directs attention to body awareness, expression and relationship. It shapes the somatic approaches and the sensitive handling of movement, contact and group dynamics — without any therapeutic objective.
Live improvised music structures time, intensity and transitions without prescribing any particular movement. Ritual practice contributes deliberately shaped beginnings, thresholds and endings, and understands ritual as a secular structure rather than a creed: ritual forms that matter for societies as a way of working through subjects rather than negotiating them cognitively alone.
The team
Sustainable activism
Susanne works at the intersection of cultural studies, art and civic education. Her focus areas include group-focused enmity, memory work, participation and social movements. She has many years of experience in facilitating and accompanying group processes.
Dance therapy & psychology
Carolina is a professional dancer, psychologist and movement therapist. Her work combines body awareness, expression and trauma-sensitive facilitation. Participants encounter body-centred experiences that open up new possibilities of perception and expression.
Music & ritual practice
Arystan is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and music educator with many years of research and practice at the intersection of music, improvisation and ritual. With instruments from various traditions, voice and live looping he shapes the musical frame of Re_Connection.
Development
The first workshop format emerged in 2024 from bringing together three fields of work: transformative education and sustainable activism, dance and movement therapy, and music.
Timeline
A two-day seminar in December at riesa efau. Kultur Forum Dresden.
“Re-Connection. The body and emotions in political action” — four evenings from March to June, with a first evaluation meeting together with participants.
A workshop contribution focusing on civic engagement in rural areas — connecting with groups and initiatives working on related questions.
Four evenings from September to December: hope through action, thinking in longer timeframes, time and space, natality.
A second multi-day format with particular reference to core elements of Joanna Macy's practice, for example “thinking in longer timeframes” within political action.
Five evenings at riesa efau: shame & growth, fear & belonging, grief & love, anger & boundaries, emptiness & transformation.
“Active Hope & Re_Connection” — two ninety-minute rounds as an introduction for an open museum audience.
A contribution within Kollapscamp — topic and form are being developed together with the camp.
Preparing the next series; building a systematic documentation as a basis for academic accompaniment.
Places
One venue for the regular sessions is riesa efau. Kultur Forum Dresden. Beyond that, Re_Connection works in changing places — in museums, at festivals, in seminar houses and with groups on site. The space is always drawn into the format and arranged accordingly. The offerings are developed together with the organisers.
