Community & hope
What does hope mean in times of polycrisis? And what role can community play in it?

At a time when trust in the future is often shaken, hope becomes not a sentimental feeling but a radically political gesture. Hope is not a retreat into the private but a movement outwards — towards the other, towards what is shared.
According to Joanna Macy there is hardly any option other than to remain in hope, because “business as usual” or giving up entirely would seem even more senseless to many engaged people.
In a world oriented towards optimisation and individualisation, we want to practise something else: slowing down, turning towards one another, tenderness. A world in which community arises not through sameness but through mutual openness.
